Mercedes-Benz Vans celebrated a milestone in May with the production of the five millionth Sprinter van. The landmark vehicle—an all-electric eSprinter—was assembled in Charleston, South Carolina, and delivered to FedEx, a longtime customer.
Debuting in 1995 to replace the TN (T1) series, the Sprinter set new standards in light commercial vehicles, blending transporter utility with Mercedes-Benz refinement. It introduced safety innovations like ABS brakes, improved aerodynamics, fuel efficiency, and a range of powerful yet economical engines.
Now in its third generation, the Sprinter is more than a van—it’s a mobile office, featuring MBUX multimedia, advanced telematics, and driver-assistance tech. Its versatility remains unmatched, with over 1,000 configurations spanning body types, drive systems, and equipment options. The latest model offers expanded drivetrain choices, including front-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The eSprinter signals the future of light commercial transport, reinforcing the Sprinter’s legacy as an industry pioneer. Production takes place in Charleston, as well as Düsseldorf and Ludwigsfelde, Germany.
