Thirty years ago, Mercedes-Benz transformed the light commercial vehicle market with the Sprinter, the first van to carry the iconic name. Launched in 1995, it quickly became synonymous with quality and innovation. Today, the Sprinter remains popular, especially among businesses and fleet operators, with 75% customized for specific industry needs.
Highlights:
- Since its debut in 1995, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been a benchmark for quality, innovation, and variety
- On track to surpass five million Sprinter units sold by 2025
- Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart will feature a unique display of the first-generation Sprinter alongside the current Sprinter and eSprinter
The third-generation Sprinter made its debut in Europe in 2018, not only maintaining its extensive range of variants but also expanding it with the introduction of front-wheel drive, which brought about the new traction head variant. A standout feature of the 2018 Sprinter was its advancement in infotainment and connectivity, as it became the first commercial vehicle to incorporate the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system. This innovation allowed for voice command responsiveness, facilitating seamless interaction between the vehicle, driver, and various location-based services. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz elevated the Sprinter's safety standards with enhancements such as the DISTRONIC Active Distance Assist, which helps maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, thereby increasing driver convenience and safety.
A significant milestone was achieved in 2019 when Mercedes-Benz launched the first production-ready eSprinter cargo van in Europe. This vehicle provided the opportunity for CO2-emission-free mobility for trade, logistics, and business operations, thanks to its battery-electric drive.
